A NEW SEASON FROM THE HOME OF OPERA
Published : 10/Sep/2017
Season two of All’Opera comes to the Old Market Hall and brings the best Italian productions to the big screen in Shrewsbury.
After a successful inaugral season earlier this year, featuring Madame Butterfly, Manon Lescaut and Sofia Coppola's rendition of Giuseppe Verdi's La Traviata, a new set of six productions offers audiences further experience of some of the most famous performances from Italy’s most historic and renowned venues.
The new season begins in October with the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma’s production of George Bizet's CARMEN, which will be performed in the Terme di Caracalla in Roma, the archaeological site of the Roman Baths.
There are also operas from the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, including Umberto Giordano's ANDREA CHENIER, as well as LA BOHEME from the Teatro Communale Di Bologna, DON PASQUALE from Teatro Alla Scala, and BILLY BUDD from the Teatro Dell’Opera Di Roma. Season two will also feature the swashbuckling ballet LE CORSAIRE from Teatro all Scala.
All'Opera is a collaboration between Rai Com and Thunderbird Releasing. Speaking ahead of the season two, Edward Fletcher, managing director for Thunderbird Releasing said, "We’ve had fantastic support from audiences and exhibitors for the first pilot season, and look forward to bringing more unique events to UK audiences from the home of opera."
