STRANGE MEETINGS
Strange Meetings documents the final fifteen months of the life of poet and soldier Wilfred Owen, beginning with his admission to Craiglockhart Hospital with shell-shock, his auspicious meeting with Siegried Sassoon, the resulting flourish of poetry, his return to France, and his final and fatal battle in November 1918.
Drawing on Owen’s letters alongside biographical accounts, revealing his thoughts and inspirations, this dramatic presentation brings to life the story of a troubled soul, and is alive with language and wry humour, showing Owen as the complicated and misunderstood person he was.
This presentation has been written and is performed by Shaun Higgins for Spike Rose Productions, and will be followed by an informal audience Q&A session.
